Some of these are off color and I love them all the more for it.

New Cartoon! : FORGOTTEN NINTENDO CARTOONS OF THE 80’S

There were some NES games that didn’t exactly leave their mark on history. And coincidently enough, they all are based on the events and pop culture of that era. You might have to take the cartridge out and blow in it to get this cartoon to work Hahaha.

I like this better than my mother-in-law’s version: “Don’t complain. This could be the good part.”

Hello, Friday night project.

thisisauniqueurl:

I used the recipe on this site:

http://www.joyofbaking.com/GingerbreadCake.html

The things I did differently are:

I used Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-free All Purpose Flour

Nutmeg instead of cloves

None of the lemon

and I added a teaspoon of Vanilla.  =D

Also- cream cheese frosting.

For some reason, I’m reminded of a time I was walking back from the Wharf at sunset.

For the record, I could never forget them, thanks to a line in the Simpsons:

Homer: Who’s your favorite Wilbury, Lisa? Is it Jeff Lynne?

Here. Have a video and swoon over the mellowness that is Roy Orbison’s voice.

danmeth:

THE TRAVELING WILBURYS
(clockwise from top left: Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison)

Why is this supergroup so forgotten? Sure, their albums aren’t exactly the sum of their parts and maybe all of our dads “de-cooled” them by overplaying the cassette tapes… But it’s the closest we have to a Dylan/Beatle duet… which also happens to feature Tom Petty at his peak, rock pioneer Orbison, and the guy from ELO thrown into the mix. Give it a listen if you like classic rock lineage.

On Santa Claus. And I Don’t Mean Like *That*

Crossposted from here:

A couple of years ago, a chronologically challenged relative of mine asked me about Santa Claus. For people brought up in our christian-centered culture this question always seems to be about loss, the first step to the loss of innocence. With her parent’s permission I told her the truth.

First I told her that there was a man. Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, born in 326. He was known for his philanthropy and that in fact, that man died a long time ago.

Then I prepared her the truth about Santa Claus.

I explained to her that before she could know the truth, she needed to understand that she was now part of a special trust to let no one know the truth until they were ready.

Then I spilled it. “Santa Claus is real.”

She blinked very hard and looked confused.

“Do you want to know how I know he’s real? I’ve seen him. Santa Claus is your parents going out to get the presents and hiding them under the tree for you. Santa Claus is the guy in the mall in the red suit talking to children. Santa Claus is the person who donates to “Toys for Tots”. Santa Claus is EVERYONE who works to uphold his legend for children.”

I took a deep breath and held her hands and said “and now you are Santa Claus too.”

And now, all of you are too.

I finally figured out why some things bother me as an adult. It’s because I now have the ability to over-think things.
